Educator, Author, and Coach
ABOUT SUSAN CORBIN, PhD

Student Turned Supporter
My graduate student and academic experience mirrors your own. I have worked with both undergraduate students and graduate students in many positions. While in my doctoral program at the University of Texas at Austin, I was a teaching assistant helping a faculty member with a large class. Later, I taught my own sections of Public Speaking as an assistant instructor.
After graduating with my doctorate, I took the job of undergraduate advisor and ran sections of Freshman Interest Groups. Six years later, I became the graduate coordinator at The University of Texas at Austin where I stayed for more than a decade.
During that time I taught Critical Thinking to undergraduates and coached more than one hundred masters and doctoral students as they finished their final project.
SUPPORTER, ENCOURAGER, AND EXCELLENT LISTENER
Susan Corbin’s coaching methods include being a supporter, an encourager and an excellent listener. She reflects what she heard you say to give you a chance to clarify.
She’ll encourage you to talk through the sticking points of your project, because she knows you know it, you just have to explore it a little bit more.
With her expert questions, you will unstick those sticking points. Her most common request is “Write that down.” Or she’ll ask, “Are you writing this down?”
Contact Susan. What have you got to lose but an hour of your time? You might come away with that sticky place all unstuck.
